About The AniView
The AniView (the-aniview.com) is a free, publicly accessible anime and manga discovery platform. We provide browsing, search, and editorial content to help fans explore anime and manga. We do not require registration to use the core site, and we do not sell your personal data.
Analytics
We use Umami Analytics, a privacy-focused, self-hosted analytics tool. Umami collects basic, anonymous usage data — such as page views, referrer, browser type, and approximate country — to help us understand how the site is used and improve the experience.
- Umami does not use cookies for tracking.
- No personally identifiable information (PII) is stored in analytics.
- Analytics data is hosted on our own infrastructure and is not shared with third parties.
- We may track anonymous interaction events (e.g. content discovery, search usage, outbound link clicks) to improve the product.
Cookies & Local Storage
The AniView uses minimal browser storage:
- A session cookie is set by Laravel for standard web security (CSRF protection). This is a technical necessity, not a tracking cookie.
- Your theme preference (light/dark mode) is stored in local storage on your device only.
- Your language preference is stored in a session cookie.
We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking cookies, or any third-party cookie services.
External Content & Data Sources
Anime and manga metadata displayed on The AniView is sourced from the Jikan API, which provides public data from MyAnimeList (MAL). We do not control or store this third-party data in its original form — it is fetched and cached temporarily to serve requests.
Links to MyAnimeList, YouTube trailers, or other external sites open in new tabs. Those sites have their own privacy policies.
Sponsor & Advertising Disclosure
The AniView may display sponsored content from time to time. Sponsor slots are clearly labelled as Sponsored where they appear. We do not use behavioral or retargeting ad networks. Sponsor links open in new tabs and are the responsibility of the respective advertisers.
Registered Users
If you choose to create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password (stored as a secure hash). This information is used solely to provide account features (e.g. your personal anime and manga lists). We do not share account data with third parties.
